The Adventures of Carl Cubeguy v0.3
This is my game, The Adventures of Carl Cubeguy! Play through various not very engaging levels taken straight from one of the best Sonic games to save Cubeland!
(It's not a Sonic fangame. It's its own thing. I just had no ideas or time, lol)
~ STORY ~
This story follows a cubey fellow named Carl Cubeguy. He's just your average cubeguy, who does average cube things in Cubeland. One day, he's out eating a sandwich, then BOOM! Explosions everywhere! And... he sees shapes previously unheard of... TRIANGLES... SPHERES... CONES... and the worst of all... SLOPES!!
"What the hell is happening?" Carl worries. The evil guy, who's behind all this mess, then shows up. "Hey, do you like my shapes?" he asks.
"Hell no! And who are you?" Carl demands. "I am so glad you asked... The name's Dr. Cerchio... (that means circle in Italian, hehe) I'm gonna change all your cubes to SPHERES and TRIANGLES!!! AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
BOOM! Dr. Cerchio disappears in an explosion.
"Shit, I don't want this." Carl complains. "Let me follow him and stop him cause I don't like what he's doing."
~ CONTROLS ~
No gamepad support, sorry!
Check the Controls menu in the game to see the controls.
Press X to jump, and C to shoot. Use the arrow keys to move.
Additionally, use the keypad keys to move the camera around.
Press P to pause.
~ KNOWN ISSUES ~
- The game is just generally not well put together, since I'm pretty unfamiliar with the engine this was made in.
- The game is also still unfinished. Makes sense because the version number is in the 0s.
- Sometimes, when an enemy dies, they will still have their collision. This will cause things such as them landing on top of you when they die.
- The pause menu is unfinished. To reset or go back to the main menu, hold shift and click on the white box.
- Health is not displayed. (You have 3 health points.)
- The title screen has no music.
- The text on Haunted Ship's level select entry is cut off by the return button.
- When returning to the main menu, the fade in effect is displayed incorrectly.
- Falling off the edge of the level in the Tutorial will cause the game to softlock.
- None of v0.4's revisions, such as proper gamepad support, and access to hidden levels are present.
- The quit button on the title screen does nothing. (It would only do something if you downloaded the game, which I've turned off.)
- The player sprite (a white box) will not follow the player collision when you die.
v0.4 is now playable on my Neocities website!
Most of the above issues will likely be resolved in v0.5, since I'm remaking the game in a new engine.
